Harness Your Body’s Natural Ability to Rejuvenate Your Skin.

Microneedling or SkinPen is a medical-grade, state-of-the-art precision tool available only through skincare professionals. It works by creating a series of hundreds of microscopic channels into the dermis to stimulate your body’s natural production of new collagen and elastin, helping your complexion to look and feel healthier.

SkinPen is extremely versatile and can be used on all parts of the body: face, neck, décolletage, arms, hands, legs, abdomen, and back. This versatility makes SkinPen especially helpful when addressing acne scars on the back and stretch marks on the body.

Microneedling is a Safe and Effective Treatment For:

Microneedling: What to Expect

Microneedling is performed outpatient in Dr. Moran’s Franklin, TN, office. No anesthesia is necessary to ensure your comfort. During the appointment, Dr. Moran will make small wounds under the skin with a pen-like instrument called the SkinPen. The tool will move evenly across your skin, ensuring even results.

Once the procedure is complete, she will apply a serum to soothe and protect the treated area.  SkinPen treatments typically take about 30 to 60 minutes to complete and are tolerated very well. Most of our patients report that they feel little to no discomfort during the procedure, and are able to return to their normal daily activities right away.

After your Appointment

Although microneedling is a minimally-invasive procedure, there will be side effects whenever the skin is penetrated. With SkinPen, these effects are usually mild and will vary depending on how deep the needle was inserted and the intensity of the treatment. Here’s a general overview of what you can expect during the days after your appointment:

  • Day 1: Mild to moderate swelling and redness, similar to a mild sunburn. There may be some mild bruising as well.
  • Day 2: Some redness may persist, but bruising, swelling, and most redness should show signs of diminishing.
  • Day 3: Redness, bruising, and swelling should be nearly gone. Normal appearance with makeup may be achieved.
  • Day 4: Your skin should appear mostly normal at this point.

Microneedling Results

Many patients notice healthier-looking skin immediately after the procedure. However, the natural repair process of your own skin continues to progress over the course of several weeks. You may not see your full results until three to six months following your final session. The full results are typically an improvement in acne scars and surface signs of aging, along with brighter, firmer skin. Most patients require multiple sessions to achieve their ideal results.
